Adaptive Tennis DMV is an organization focused on supporting players who are para-standing, have low vision, or have other challenges.

As an organization we

Maya and Bodi are siblings and junior tennis players who volunteer at the Junior tennis Champions Center adaptive tennis program, under Coach Karl Lee. Energized and inspired by the talent, grit and ability of the para-standing players, Maya and Bodi established Para Standing Tennis DMV to provide additional opportunities to adaptive players in the District of Columbia, Virginia and Maryland geographic area. Maya explains: “There are few opportunities for non-traditional players to enjoy the many social and athletic benefits of tennis.” She added: “Players shouldn’t have to go to College Park, Maryland to enjoy tennis.” Bodi comments, “Playing tennis is a great way to improve your health and well-being, improve coordination, have fun and be part of the community.”

Maya and Bodi were recently recognized for their contributions to the para-standing tennis program at the Junior Tennis Champions Center. Logging hours every weekend, they enjoyed the opportunity to play with para-standing athletes.

Maya and Bodi teamed up with fellow player and close friend, Zaid Zamani, to find courts, gather resources, and expand opportunities to para-standing players in the DMV area. The summer of 2023, this trio will provide provide clinics and other programming for adaptive players in the community. Together, these middle and high school students are taking para-standing tennis to the next level.
